The district town of Hofheim has been trying to add to the existing, attractive and largely small retail landscape in the historic old town and obtain a centre that has plenty of space and is able to provide essential supplies and additional goods too. MIB was approached to take over the development of the centre at the beginning of 2007.

MIB developed a completely new structure for the centre on Chinonplatz in Hofheim working with the London firm of architects DunnettCraven and the Schulze und Partner office in Hanover. The aim of the concept was to attract retail companies to perfect the services offered in the centre of town, create a high degree of quality space in a shopping centre with natural light and enhance the existing network of footpaths in Hofheim with vibrant architecture.

A shopping centre with about 12,900 square metres of retail space, 1,700 square metres of cinema and eating places and 450 parking spaces in the car parks above was created in just 14 months.

The centre has been firmly anchored in the minds and shopping habits of the people of Hofheim and its visitors since it opened in October 2010. The large numbers of people visiting the centre at the heart of the town is largely due to the fact that its retailers provide all essential supplies. The anchor tenants are Edeka, Lidl, Müller, H&M, C&A and Deichmann. Apollo Optik, Bijou Brigitte, Weltbild, CBR, Base and a chemist’s occupy the smaller areas. A cinema with three screens, a large eating place, a flower stand and a baker’s complete the range of outlets.

The Chinon Center has greatly reinforced Hofheim’s appeal. People and their purchasing power remain in the town. It is a successful concept.

Project development starts with a good idea – and a good sense of intuition. We check both thoroughly to ensure they are reliable.
